CARTOONING TO COMMUNICATE:
A Social and Emotional Learning Experience
for Adults Who Work With Kids

Invite me to present a one day workshop at your school!

My main goals are to give educators strategies for calming their minds, and for them to experience and become comfortable with a different, more visual way of working with kids.

My purpose is to empower educators with simple cartooning skills that help students understand and engage with curriculum.

This is a special opportunity for inventing visual metaphors that make complicated conversations easier to have with kids.

Learn comic-making activities to use in the classroom. Experience first hand what research has proven—how the act of drawing is good for our memory, can ease anxiety and improve our mood.

No drawing experience is needed—stick figure makers as well as experienced doodlers are all able to access these skills.

What matters most is a willingness to connect with children through cartooning because it is fun and it helps them with understanding, expression, motor skills, and problem solving.

Here is a sample of a workshop agenda:

Athens Academy in Georgia had me join their school system for two workshops this past November and we had a great time being creative together. Below click through some pictures of our workshop and “thought bubbles” that came out of the work that we did together:
